Prez Talk for June 2012

Apologies for delaying the May-June issue of Indus. I certainly wanted to add the details of the STC India Pune Zip Conference which concluded on the 30th June, last weekend and hence requested the Indus team to postpone the announcement of the June issue. The topic session had food for thought lined-up one after another, augmenting the value of the previous session. The topics ranged from Wikis, White Paper writing, new tool usefulness to alternate career options for Technical Writers. To top it all, the Quiz was well executed by renowned Quiz Master – Frederick Menezes. Technowrites was our main sponsor and Makarand Pandit got everything done perfect, as perfect as him, which left the crowd asking to conduct one more conference like this. A good gathering of 65 folks were enthralled witnesses to the Zip Conference day and walked away with the knowledge and satisfaction to the soul.We will share the link to download the Zip Conference presentations at the earliest.

A few weeks ago we finished our first Regional Conference in Hyderabad on 09th June, with participation of 50 folks. CA was our main sponsor there and we were all excited by their hospitality. The sessions happened in their premises and were well aligned to the latest trends and requirements of the TechComm fraternity. Would like to thank Swaminathan, our Vice-President, who was the spearhead right from inception to successful completion of this event.

How do we sustain what is motivating and fun in daily lives other than work?  There are answers, and some of the contributors in this edition of Indus give us insights into seeking the dreams, learning new areas of work and keeping the spark going. I hope you will enjoy this edition which aims to get to know our community members who pursue hobbies beyond their day jobs.

STC India’s calendar seems to be quite eventful in the coming two months, with STC India just concluding its Second Summit (Zip Conference) in Pune. We are planning to organize our second User Experience and Usability conference in the last week of September in Bangalore. Stay tuned for the updates on our newsgroup and portal.
