By Manisha Khurana, STC India President
In my previous message, I had mentioned that this year along with continuing our traditional initiatives, we will focus on reviving the SIGs, organizing more Webinars, and organizing the annual conference with new features to increase visibility of STC in India and to provide more value to our members.
For the annual conference that is scheduled on December 5 and 6 this year, the call for proposals is now open with a best paper proposal contest. Therefore, if you are doing something new or if you are following some best practices that can help other writers in doing their jobs faster and better, now is the time when you should come forward and submit the proposal for the annual conference. The best paper proposal will win a perpetual license of Adobe TCS 5. For all the details related to the paper proposals, click here.
Next, our SIGs in the first half of the year organized around eight sessions (Editing SIG organized three Webinars, ID SIG also organized three Webinars, Management SIG organized one Webinar, and Usability SIG organized one session in the Delhi (NCR) regional conference). All the sessions were wonderful.
Furthermore, our city representatives wrapped up first half of the year with around ten learning sessions in all metro states of the country and three regional conferences in Delhi, Pune, and Chennai.
Thanks to all the volunteers who are working for advancement of the technical communication profession in India in association with the STC India chapter.
I am glad to inform you that STC US recognized the India chapter at the 2014 STC Summit for a high number of quality initiatives, especially the Think Tank and Debate contests. Click here to view the competitions report that I provided to STC US.
I am sure our members are taking advantage of the chapter efforts aimed at bringing all the writers closer to the latest trends by providing a platform for knowledge sharing and networking. Therefore, we have seen around twenty percent increase in the chapter membership count in the first half of this year.
Stay tuned with the STC India chapter activities. There will be more activities in the year ahead. In case of any feedback, please write to admin.council@stc-india.org.
